She can see your child for anything from the common cold to a simple sports injury, or provide continual primary and pediatric care.

What can a pediatrician do for my child?
A pediatrician is able to help your child in the same ways a primary care physician can, and more. The difference is that a pediatrician is a specialist in treating children, so he or she understands children and their particular health needs even better than a primary care physician does. For instance, Dr. Maria Nabong is able to help children who have autism, which is a common behavioral disorder in children, but many primary care physicians aren’t able to help these children in the same ways.
A pediatrician is able to provide many, many different services for children, including well-child visits, pediatric physicals, immunizations, and others. Dr. Maria Nabong is also able to treat conditions like:
- Urinary tract infections and other mild infections
- Mild allergies / allergic reactions
- Respiratory issues like asthma and others
- ENT (ears, nose, and throat) problems, including strep throat
- Minor sprains, strains, and other simple sports injuries
- Other simple injuries like minor cuts and bruises
- Vomiting, upset stomach, diarrhea, etc.
- The flu in children 3 months of age or older
- And any other minor conditions in children
When is it necessary to go to the ER instead of pediatric care?
Sometimes it is absolutely necessary to take a child to the ER (emergency room), such as when a child younger than 3 years old has the flu with a fever. This can actually be life-threatening for these young children, so it’s necessary to go to the ER. Whenever a situation is life-threatening, or if you’re ever unsure whether a situation could be life-threatening, then call 911 and go to the ER.
Pediatric care is for minor situations, so you can come see us here at KidsHealth Pediatrics whenever your child needs care for a minor health condition or for ongoing care!
